- Accumulator
- A bet that links together two or more selections; every selection must win for you to get a payout.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap applied to a team to remove the draw option, giving each side an equal chance of winning the bet.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money you have set aside for placing bets.
- Bet Builder
- A tool that lets you combine several markets from the same match into a single wager.
- Bet Slip
- The electronic record that shows the bets you have chosen, the odds, and the potential payout.
- Cash Out
- An option to settle a bet before the event finishes, letting you lock in a profit or cut a loss.
- Double Chance
- A bet that covers two of the three possible outcomes of a match, increasing your chance of winning.
- Edge
- Your perceived advantage over the bookmaker, based on knowledge or analysis that suggests a higher probability of an outcome.
- Even Money
- Odds of 2.00 (or 1/1) where the profit equals your stake if the bet wins.
- Fixed Odds
- Odds that are set when you place the bet and stay the same no matter what happens later.
- Half-Time/Full-Time
- A market where you predict both the result at halftime and the final result of the match.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing bets after the match has started, with odds that change as the game progresses.
- Juice (Vig)
- The commission or fee that a bookmaker includes in the odds, usually a few percent extra you pay.
- Kelly Criterion
- A formula that calculates the optimal fraction of your bankroll to bet, based on the edge you believe you have.
- Lay Bet
- A bet that a specific outcome will not happen, typically offered on betting exchanges.
- Market
- A category of betting options for an event, such as which team will win, how many goals will be scored, or who will score first.
- Odds
- The number that tells you how likely an outcome is and how much you can win relative to your stake.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether a specific statistic, like total goals, will be higher or lower than a number set by the bookmaker.
- Parlay
- Another name for an accumulator, where you combine several selections and the winnings from each roll onto the next.
- Punter
- A person who places bets on sporting events.
- Spread Betting
- A bet on whether a variable, such as total points, will be above or below a spread set by the bookmaker.
- Stake

- Starting Price (SP)

- Tip
